Do I need a Prescription to start physical therapy?
In Pennsylvania, patients can go to physical therapy for one month without a prescription from a MD / DO / PC / CRNP / PA-C / DPM if a physical therapist has a “Direct Access” license. However, certain insurances such as Medicare, will not pay for physical therapy without a valid prescription.
Can I chose which facility I receive physical therapy at?
You can receive physical therapy at the facility of your choosing, even if the prescription is written for another facility.

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your prescription, insurance cards, proof of identification (i.e. driver’s license), any pertinent medical documents (i.e. radiological report, medication list) and appropriate clothing to allow assessment and treatment to the injured area.
How long do appointments last?
The initial evaluation will last 45 minutes to one hour and then each appointment afterward will range from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes. Please arrive 20 minutes early to the initial visit to fill out the necessary paperwork.
